Minshew began her collegiate career at Mississippi State after a historic high school tenure

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University volleyball program and Head Coach Darcy Dorton have added a talented transfer to the team's roster, as senior outside hitter Callie Minshew (Brandon, Miss.-Brandon (Mississippi State) is headed to Ypsilanti as the newest Eagle.

Minshew, who hails from Brandon, Miss. is set to join EMU for the upcoming 2022 campaign after spending the previous three seasons with Mississippi State University as a member of the Bulldogs' volleyball team.

"We are thrilled to have Callie joining the program," offered Dorton. "The experience she gained during her time at Mississippi State and competing in the SEC will prepare her for transitioning to competitive MAC play. We're excited by the skills she'll bring on the court but even more excited by how seamlessly she connected with the team off the court."

A 2020 Fall Southeastern Conference (SEC) Academic Honor Roll recipient and former SEC Defensive Player of the Week, Minshew comes to Eastern with 49 matches of playing experience at the Division I level.

During her second year with the Bulldogs, which was split between the fall of 2020 and the spring of 2021 (due to COVID-19), Minshew appeared in 19 matches with 13 starts and saw action in 59 total sets. She led the team in service aces (20) and ranked No. 6 in the SEC with 3.67 aces per set. Minshew finished No. 3 on the squad in digs (138).

A 30-match starter in her debut season in Starkville, she was one of two Bulldogs to play all 114 sets and led the team with 29 service aces. Minshew tallied the most digs (268) of any freshman in the SEC and the third best mark on the team. She finished No. 2 on the squad in kills (255) and points (303.5), and ended the campaign among the top 10 MSU freshmen all-time in three categories; attack attempts (No. 4; 1,027), service aces (tied for No. 8; 29) and kills (No. 9; 255). She was the only student-athlete on the team with at least 200 kills and 200 digs.

A prep standout, Minshew played at Brandon High School under head coach Kelsa Walker and led the Bulldogs to back-to-back state championships as a junior and senior. She was twice named the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year, as a junior and senior, and was a two-time Mississippi Volleyball Player of the Year, as a sophomore and senior. She earned All-America honors from PrepVolleyball.com as a senior and earned Under Armour All-American Honorable Mention honors. She has already been inducted into her high school's athletic hall of fame.
