Magnusson Sets EMU Record in 3000m Race at David Hemery Valentine Invite

The junior crossed the finish line in 7:47.51
BOSTON, Mass. (EMUEagles.com) – Junior harrier Baldvin Magnusson (Akureyri, Iceland-Hull University) had a career day in the 3000m race today at the David Hemery Valentine Invite, Feb. 12.
"I'm really proud of Vinny, he competed for 3,000 meters," said Assistant Coach Mark Rinker. "He ran a six-second PR and broke the school record, you can't ask for more than that."
How It Happened
The Iceland native recorded a school-record time of 7:47.51 for fifth in the competition. The junior's effort is an Icelandic national record and qualifies him for the 2022 World Indoor Championships. The championships will take place next month in Belgrade, Serbia, March 18-20. Coming into today, Magnusson's 7:47.51 time would rank first in the Mid-American Conference and 17th in the nation.
