Kadian Clarke breaks school record in the weight throw with a toss of 21.54m
ALLENDALE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track & field program gained value experience at Grand Valley State University's Big Meet today, Feb. 11, inside the Kelly Family Sports Center.
How It Happened
Senior Kadian Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica-Immaculate Conception) broke her own school record in the weight throw with a toss of 21.54m. Coming into today, that distance would rank 15th in the nation. The thrower also placed first in the shot put invite with a throw of 15.50m. That mark is a personal best and good for second in program history.
The women's distance runners had a great showing with three personal-bests in the mile, highlighted by junior Lexi Seifert's (Waterford, Pa.-Villa Maria Academy) 4:52.37 time. Additionally, sophomore Esme Davies (Lake District England-Queen Elizabeth Grammar School) improved her 5000m time to 17:13.15.
Junior Alysse Wade (Mansfield, Ohio-St. Peter's) recorded a season-best 8.55-clip in the 60m hurdles for second overall. Coming into the meet, the fastest 60H time in the Mid-American Conference was 8.57. Sophomore Almighty Williamson (Baltimore, Md.-Digital Harbor (Barton C.C.)) finished runner-up in the same event with a personal-best time of 7.87.
On the men's side, graduate student Taige Bryant (Edmond, Okla.-Edmond Memorial) won the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 23.01m. Elsewhere, senior Chukwusom Enekwechi (Valley Stream, N.Y.-Jamaica Gateway to the Sciences (Monroe College)) was impressive. He recorded a personal-best shot put hurl of 18.72m.
