Baldvin Magnusson Named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

The long-distance specialist recently set an Icelandic national record
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University men's track and field student-athlete Baldvin Magnusson (Akureyri, Iceland-Hull University) has been named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today, Dec. 7.
A First Team All-MAC awardwinner during the fall cross country campaign, Magnusson opened up his indoor track and field season with a bang, setting an Iceland indoor national record in the 5000m at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Open, hosted by Boston University, Dec. 3. Magnusson's time of 14:01.29 placed him 82nd at the national meet. With his historic dash in Boston, he now owns the Iceland indoor and outdoor national records in the 5000m, setting the overall national record with a 13:32.47 at the Brian Clay Invitational, April 14, 2022.
The Eagles will regroup next Friday, Dec. 9, for the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open in Allendale, Mich. More information will be made available closer to the meet.
