Track and Field Preps for Split-Squad Weekend

Eastern will compete at the Wake Forest Invitational and the Hillsdale Gina Relays
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University track and field programs will have a split-squad weekend, with athletes competing at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., Thursday-Friday, April 16-17, and the Hillsdale "Gina" Relays in Hillsdale, MI., Thursday-Saturday, April 16-18.
The Wake Forest Invitational is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, and 10 a.m. on Friday, while the Hillsdale Gina Relays will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. Saturday.

Last Time at Wake Forest Invitational
The Eagles sent distance runners to the Wake Forest Invitational last season, April 17-19. Former student-athlete Chloie Musta ran a MAC-best 800m of 2:08.50 to highlight the women. On the men's side, Lachlan Cornelius ran a MAC-best 800m time of 1:49.25, while Ronan Codyre (Auckland, New Zealand/Macleans College) ran the 5,000m in 14:23.03, at the time ranking third in the MAC.
Last Time at Hillsdale Gina Relays
Eastern last competed at the Hillsdale Gina Relays in the 2020-21 season. The women were highlighted by a first-place pole vault performance, three top ten finishes in the 5,000m, and third place finishes in the 1,500m and hammer throw events. The men saw a second-place finish in the discus throw, and a third-place finish in the triple jump.
Last Time Out: Spec Towns Invitational
The Eagles had a strong showing at the Spec Towns Invitational, hosted by the University of Georgia, April 9-11. The men's team was highlighted by Jimmy Geller (London, England/Davenant Foundation) and Carson McCoy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Deer Lakes) finishing second and third in the 800m, respectively. Geller's 1:49.34 now leads the MAC, while McCoy's 1:50.07 ranks fourth. In the field, Ray Glory-Ejoyokah (Southfield, Mich./Wylie E. Groves) improved his EMU No. 4 discus throw yet again, with a new personal best toss of 55.02m (180-6), while Jake McEachern (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive) saw a personal best hammer throw of 63.76m (209-2), which currently ranks second in the MAC and improved his EMU No. 7 mark.
The women also saw strong performances in the 800m races, as Demetria Henderson (Tampa, Fla./Freedom) claimed the win in the 800m with a time of 2:13.76. In the 800m Invite, Christiana Coleman (Pompano Beach, Fla./Florida) and Sophie Emin (Easton, Pa./Rutgers) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, both running personal best times under the 2:10.00 mark. Coleman's new best time of 2:09.09 now ranks 10th in the program top 10, and Emin followed shortly behind in a new best time of 2:09.45.
Saraiah Walkes (Manatee County, Fla./The-Out-of-Door-Academy) ran the 200m in 23.57, now leading the conference. She also was a part of the 4x400m relay team with Henderson, Uduak Udosoh (Abak, Nigeria/Ibiaku Clan Community Secondary), and Josephine Oloye (Iwaro-Oka, Nigeria/Geomi Secondary School/Tayelolu Memorial), as they ran a time of 3:37.69, the new fourth fastest time in program history.
McEachern Named Men's MAC Field Athlete of the Week
McEachern was named Men's MAC Field Athlete of the Week, April 14. He earned the honor after he placed seventh in the hammer throw at the Spec Towns Invitational, April 9-11, with a personal best toss of 63.76m (209-2). McEachern's performance ranks second in the MAC, 26th in the NCAA East Region, and improves his EMU program No. 7 mark.

- Shamoya Clemetson is in the third spot in the long jump (5.99m, 19-08.00)
- Mariah Taylor ranks third in the triple jump with a 12.65m (41-06.00) mark
