ATHENS, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University track and field programs competed in the Spec Towns Invitational, hosted by the University of Georgia, Thursday-Saturday, April 9-11, at the Spec Towns Track in Athens, Ga.

The Eagles were highlighted by multiple strong performances in the 800m races, including an event win, a combined total of four personal bests, and a program top 10 mark.

How it Happened: Men
On the track, the men were highlighted by the Eagle's showing in the 800m. Jimmy Geller (London, England/Davenant Foundation School) finished second with a personal best time of 1:49.34, while Carson McCoy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Deer Lakes) followed shortly behind to take third place in 1:50.07. Nicholas Kline (Grand Rapids, Mich./Kenowa Hills) also ran a personal best in the race, crossing the line in 1:53.12.

Another race that saw multiple personal bests from EMU was the 200m, as Jamyle Anderson led the pack in a personal best 21.24 for ninth place, while Leo Ignacio (Saline, Mich./Saline) earned a personal best time of 21.78. It was a double PR day for Ignacio, as he also ran a new best time in the 110m hurdle prelims in 14.55.

In field events, Ray Glory-Ejoyokah (Southfield, Mich./Wylie E. Groves) secured a fourth place finish in the discus throw, with a personal best toss of 55.02m (180-6), improving his EMU No. 4 mark that he had set just last weekend at the Spartan Invite with a 54.66m (179-4) throw.

Also improving their program top 10 mark in a throwing event was Jake McEachern (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive), as he improved his No. 7 mark in the hammer throw with a personal best heave of 63.76m (209-2) to earn seventh place.

In the decathlon, Cason Doolittle (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty Benton) finished fifth with a total of 6,076 points. Notable events for Doolittle included his personal best pole vault of 3.80m (12-05.50), improving his No. 9 mark in the EMU decathlon top 10, and his shot put of 10.99m (36-00.75), also improving his No. 10 mark in the decathlon top 10.

How it Happened: Women
The women were highlighted by strong performances in the 800m races. Demetria Henderson (Tampa, Fla./Freedom) claimed the win in the 800m with a time of 2:13.76. In the 800m Invite, Christiana Coleman (Pompano Beach, Fla./Florida) and Sophie Emin (Easton, Pa./Rutgers) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, both running personal best times under the 2:10.00 mark. Coleman's new best time of 2:09.09 now ranks 10th in the program top 10, and Emin followed shortly behind in a new best time of 2:09.45.

The 100m hurdles prelims saw two new personal best times for the Eagles, as Liusmar Rivas Velasquez (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) finished in a personal best 14.23, and Jaeden Garraway (Whitby, Ontario/Bill Crothers Secondary) ran a new best time of 15.12.

In the field, Kaydence Doxley (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) earned a new personal best in the long jump with a leap of 5.84m (19-02.00) to finish in ninth. Aleah Johnson (Botkins, Ohio/Botkins) led the Eagles in the throws events, finishing the hammer throw in ninth, with a toss of 50.40m (165-4), and placing 14th in the discus throw, with a 42.02m (137-10) mark.
