YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team tied for second at the EMU Quad Meet with a score of 195.025, tonight, Jan. 28, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center.

"It was a great night to celebrate our seniors," said Head Coach Katie Minasola. "We are improving each meet and it is very exciting to watch. We had some great performances today, and we are looking forward to building momentum as the season progresses, and we travel out east next weekend."

How It Happened
Eastern started on vault and was led by senior Kara Roberts (Pinckney, Mich.-Pinckney) and junior Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) who both earned a score of 9.750 to tie for eighth. Freshman Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich.-Canton) also produced a career-high 9.725, as the Eagles finished with a score on 48.475 for third place after one rotation. On bars, EMU scored 48.875 as sophomore Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-Park Center) notched a personal-best 9.850. Boris placed second while Parris chipped in with a 9.80 for third.

The Eagles soared on beam as Chemotti performed a 9.950, tying the second-best score on the apparatus in program history with former Eagle Jada Rondeau. Additionally, senior Caitlin Satler (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) and Boris both hit 9.900 to give EMU a score of 48.850 for the rotation. Closing out the competition, Satler led the way on floor with a score of 9.825, while Roberts added a 9.800 to take fourth and fifth, respectively. Eastern finished with a team total of 195.025. Western Michigan took first with a score of 196.100, while EMU's 195.025 tied for second with Ball State. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh came in fourth with a 191.650.

Eastern has a busy weekend ahead as it travels east to Towson, Md. for the Towson Quad meet Friday, Feb. 4. The Eagles will compete against host Towson, LIU, and George Washington, with the meet scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Following the Towson Quad, EMu will head to George Washington for another quad meet. The Green and White will take on host GWU, as well as LIU, and Temple.
