YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University gymnastics bested Mid-American Conference rival Central Michigan, 193.525-192.925, tonight, Jan. 14, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
"Today was a tough one," said Head Coach Katie Minasola. "We had an opportunity in front of us and we did not capitalize. No matter what we need to focus on finishing the meet and we will bring it next week."
How It Happened
Eastern started on vault and was paced by senior Kara Roberts (Pinckney, Mich.-Pinckney), who scored 9.800, tying for first on the apparatus. The Eagles totaled a score of 48.600 in the first rotation. On bars, EMU scored 48.900 as sophomore Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-Park Center) and junior Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) both hit 9.825 to tie for second. For Crossen, her performance on bars marks a career-high. Moving to beam, freshman Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich.-Canton) notched the top score for the Green and White with a personal-best 9.825 for second to help EMU produce an event total of 48.900. Eastern wrapped up the meet on floor where it earned a score of 47.125. Junior Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) achieved a career-high of 9.825 to lead the Eagles as the EMU took the win, 193.525-192.925.
In the all-around competition, Crossen finished second with a cumulative 38.350.
