VERONA, Wis. (EMUEagles.com) – Scoring conditions were much improved in the second round of the Badger Invitational at University Ridge Golf Course, Sept. 27. Eastern Michigan University was one of nine teams to post a better day two tally, as Head Coach Bruce Cunningham's crew improved seven strokes to finish the round with a score of 583 (295-288).
Illinois State made the big move today shooting a 15-under par for the round to move into first place with a 17-under 551. Sam Houston shot five-under, but fell to second where they are only four strokes back of ISU with a 13-under 563. Host Wisconsin had the second-best day shooting an eight-under on their home course. They moved into third at five-under 571.
Cincinnati (574) and Iowa State (575) hold down the fourth and fifth spot heading into the third round.
The second five consists of Northern Illinois (576), Eastern Michigan (583), South Dakota State (585), with High Point and Abilene Christian tied for ninth at 589. Toledo (592) and Augusta (594) are in front of Coastal Carolina (596) and Xavier (611).

How It Happened
Three Eagles are tied for 30th-place at two-over 146. Senior Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) notched another round of 73 for a two-day mark of 146 (73-73). After playing in his 100th career round yesterday, senior Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) collected his 33rd all-time round of par-or-better with 69. Sophomore MJ Smith (Rockford, Ill.-Winnebago) could not find the same success as round one, carding a 77 for a 146 (69-77).
Sophomores Max Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) and Patrick Deardorff (Clarkston, Mich.-Clarkston) rounded out the scoring with a 150 (80-70) and a 152 (76-76), respectively.
