The regatta was considered a scrimmage between the Eagles and Badgers
MADISON, Wis. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University rowing team continued its fall competition with a dual race at the University of Wisconsin today, Sept. 25, on Lake Mendota in Madison, Wis. The regatta was considered a scrimmage between the two squads.
The Eagles and Badgers competed in two 4000-meter races and four races at 1000 meters.
POST-RACE QUOTES
"We had some really good racing today," Head Coach Kemp Savage said. "Getting next to another team and doing both head race pieces and shorter 1Ks was huge for our racing experience. It gave us a chance to see some of our strengths and weaknesses in competition."
"We had a great day of racing in Wisconsin today," freshman Abby Goodwin (Whitehouse, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) said. "Our boats came into the day knowing it was gonna be a fight, we were able to keep our composure and really hit the drive which helped us to not only have the power we needed for quick racing but also the consistency across all of our races. We adapted well to the water conditions but there were places where we could have had better control. Taking practice time in the next weeks to focus on our catch connection and front end control in those high adrenaline situations will put us in really good shape for the rest of our season. I'm excited for our boats to get some more water time and really settle into our rhythm and see how the speed follows."

Eastern Michigan will take a 21-day layoff before traveling north to challenge its third Big Ten Conference opponent, Michigan State University Saturday, Oct. 16. The races will take place on the Grand River.
