Two Lacrosse Signees Receive USA Lacrosse Honors

Avery Schwab and Samantha Stephens earn accolades
SPARKS, Md. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University lacrosse program saw two signees receive national honors, announced USA Lacrosse, in incoming freshmen Avery Schwab (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin-Scioto) and Samantha Stephens (Versailles, Ky.-Woodford County).
"It is very exciting to have two of our inaugural class of players recognized for their achievements on and off the field," said Head Coach Alicia Groveston Jackson. "We know how special they are, but it is amazing to see that USA Lacrosse appreciate it as well."
Schwab picked up two USA Lacrosse honors, being named an Academic All-American and a recipient of the Jackie Pitts Award as an attacker in the Ohio-Central region. Additionally, Stephens was selected as an All-American after recording a triple-digit goal campaign as a senior for Woodford County.
A USA Lacrosse All-American is a player who exhibits superior skills and techniques and possesses exceptional game sense and knowledge. A USA Lacrosse All-American is one of the best players in the United States, while also embodying excellent sportsmanship.
The Jackie Pitts Award recognizes one player from each area who goes 'above and beyond' in service to her team, school, and community.
Lastly, a USA Lacrosse All-American is a player who exhibits superior skills and techniques and possesses exceptional game sense and knowledge. A USA Lacrosse All-American is one of the best players in the United States, while also embodying excellent sportsmanship.
