The Eagles honored nine seniors after the race

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing team finished its home schedule today, April 24, against Big Ten opponent Michigan State University on Ford Lake. The Eagles honored nine seniors after the regatta for their dedication to the EMU rowing program. Additionally, Head Coach Kemp Savage and the coaching staff recognized letterwinners with their varsity jackets.

"We raced well today. I was particularly happy with the execution of the race plan in the 1V," Savage said. "We fixed a lot in our 2V, but we still have a lot of work to do before we see Wisconsin next weekend and the CAA's in two weekends. It was nice to see some of our less experienced boats in the 4V and 3V do well in the 500s today. We are looking forward to the next step of our racing season."

The 1V8+ boat recorded the fastest time of the day on the 2000-meter course at 7:06.96, a difference of 3.76 seconds to the winner, Michigan State (7:03.2). Additionally, the 2V8+ squad finished with a time of 7:48.31, a difference of 36.24 to the top-finisher Spartans at 7:12.54.

The 3V8+ team posted a 8:22.91, 31.44 seconds behind MSU's Novice Eight boat at 7:51.67. The Spartans' 3V8+ squad crossed the finish line second with a 8:17.48.

In the 1V4+ race, EMU clocked in at 8:52.79, a 27.72 difference from the top boat (8:25.07).

Eastern Michigan will conclude the 2021 spring season with a trip to the University of Wisconsin Saturday, May 1. More event details will be available on EMUEagles.com closer to the race date.
