Strong First Day for Women's Golf at Falcon Invitational

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Sophomore Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit) fired an opening day score of 73 to lead the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational Saturday, April 10. Loberg sits in a tie for fourth-place, while the Eagles are tied with Oakland University in third with a 309 on the par-72, 5,829 yard Stone Ridge Golf Club setup.
Redshirt senior Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) posted a 77 in today's opening round of competition and is tied for 20th. Freshman Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) is tied for 33rd after tallying a score of 79, while classmate Sophia Wygonik (Westland, Mich.-Livonia Franklin) added an 80 for a tie for 42nd. Rounding out the lineup was freshman Paige Zolciak (Perrysburg, Ohio-St. Ursula Academy), who notched an 89 to reside in 64th.
Freshman Tatyana Nyambane (Nairobi, Kenya-Nord Angila International School Dubai) posted an 89 as an individual participant.
Host Bowling Green State University leads the 14-school field at the 10th-annual event. The Falcons carded a 294 on Saturday, the best-ever round for BGSU in the history of tournament. The Falcon's Nichole Cox was the only player on the day in red numbers, posting a 71 to lead all golfers on the individual leaderboard.
The final round of play will begin at 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 11. The tournament is open to spectators and live scoring can be accessed on GolfStat.com.
