BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Sophomore Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit) carded a final round 77 and finished tied for fifth at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational Sunday, April 11, at the Stone Ridge Golf Club.
Loberg, who was tied for fourth after the opening round, had her second-best individual finish of the season. She was the runner up at the Don Benbow Invitational in early March. The Bend, Ore. native shot a 73 in the opening round and finished with a two-round total of 150.
Led by Loberg, the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team finished tied with Youngstown State for 10th in the team standings with a 36-hole score of 629 (309-320). Ball State won the team title with a score of 605, while Jenn David of Akron captured medalist honors with a score of 144 (73-71) on the par-72, 5,829 yard setup.
Freshman Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) was the Eagles' second-best finisher at the tournament, as she added a 76 to her opening-round 79 to finish tied for 22nd overall. Redshirt senior Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) shot rounds of 77 and 84 to finish in a tie for 44th. Meanwhile, classmates Sophia Wygonik (Westland, Mich.-Livonia Franklin) and Paige Zolciak (Perrysburg, Ohio-St. Ursula Academy) posted a 163 (80-83) and 169 (83-86), respectively.
Freshman Tatyana Nyambane (Nairobi, Kenya-Nord Angila International School Dubai) continues to make improvements, closing with an 83 while playing an individual participant.
EMU will have one more tune up before the Mid-American Conference Championships, taking part in the Akron Invitational, April 16-17.
