ST. SIMMONS ISLAND, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team resides in 12th-place after a combined team total of 586 (292-292) through two rounds of the Spartan Collegiate at Sea Island today, March 8, at the par 72, 7, 060-yard Sea Island Plantation Course.
Senior Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St. Joseph's Catholic) paced the Eagles through two rounds, sitting in a tie for 17th place with a 144 (73-71). Redshirt junior Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park) posted a 145 (73-72) in a tie for 27th, while senior Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) and freshman MJ Smith (Rockford, Ill.-Winnebago) are tied for 60th with a 152. Senior Tyler Rayman (Otsego, Mich.-Otsego) rounded out the lineup with a 156 (81-75) in 74th.
No. 39 Notre Dame and host Michigan State are tied atop the leaderboard with a combined team total of 570 (-6). The Fighting Irish's Andrew O'Leary is first on the individual standings with a two-round total of five-under 139 (69-70).
The Eagles are back in action tomorrow morning, March 9, at 8 a.m. The live stats will be available via Golfstat.com.
