JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) – Sophomore Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit) took home a tie for 18th-place and helped the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team finish 12th Tuesday, March 30, at the Georgia State Invitational. Loberg, who turned in her fifth career top-20 performance, posted a 225 (76-73-76) on the par 72, 6,075-yard Rivermont Golf Club course. Samantha Vodry of High Point took home medalist honors with a five-under 211 (72-68-71).
The Eagles continue to show marked improvement each time out, recording their lowest 54-hole tally of the season with a mark of 921 (308-306-307). Monday's second round 306 equaled the best of the year at the Kiawah Island Classic, March 1.
Xavier rolled to the team title with a total of 882 (297-286-299). Kennesaw State finished as the runner up (885) while Jacksonville State (887), Georgia State (895) and Little Rock (895) rounded out the top five.
Redshirt senior Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) finished tied for 40th with a season-best 231 (77-74-80), while freshman Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) added a 232 (78-78-76) for a career-low in a three round tournament. Classmate Sophia Wygonik (Westland, Mich.-Livonia Franklin) fired a personal-best 75 to close with a 238 (82-81-75).
Freshman Tatyana Nyambane (Nairobi, Kenya-Nord Angila International School Dubai) also finished with a season-low 251 (83-85-83) as an individual participant.
Head Coach Stephanie Jennings and the Eagles return north to participate in the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, April 10-11, in Bowling Green, Ohio.
