JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University sophomore Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit) tallied a 36-hole tally of 149 (76-73) for 16th-place on the opening day of the Georgia State Invitational, March 29. Loberg shot one-over in the second round of play, which included four birdies, on the par 72, 6,075-yard Rivermont Golf Club course. Xavier's Abby Kiefer sits in first place after recording a six-under 138 (68-70).
As a team, Eastern Michigan resides in 12th at the 16-team competition, posting a score of 618 (310-308). Leading the pack is Xavier, who tallied a 583 (297-286), and is followed by Jacksonville State with a 584 (300-284).
Redshirt senior Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) posted a 77 and 74 in today's opening round of competition and is tied for 22nd. Freshman Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) is tied for 58th after tallying a two-round score of 158 (78-80), while classmate Sophia Wygonik (Westland, Mich.-Livonia Franklin) added a 163 (82-81) for a tie for 80th. Rounding out the lineup was freshman Paige Zolciak (Perrysburg, Ohio-St. Ursula Academy), who notched a 172 (79-93) to reside in 89th.
Freshman Tatyana Nyambane (Nairobi, Kenya-Nord Angila International School Dubai) posted a 168 (83-85) as an individual participant.
Eastern Michigan will play the final round of the invitational Tuesday, March 30, at 8:30 a.m.
