Women’s Golf Set for Georgia State Invitational

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf squad plays in the Atlanta area Monday and Tuesday at the Georgia State Invitational at Rivermont Golf Club in Johns Creek, Ga. Competition in the two-day, three-round tournament will begin on Monday, March 29, with 36 holes of play, followed by the final round of play on Tuesday, March 30.

The Rivermont Golf Club course plays to a par-72 and a length of 6,075 yards.
 
The Eagles are joined in the field of 17 teams by Albany, Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, Florida International, Georgia State, High Point, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Little Rock, North Dakota, Seton Hall, South Alabama, Winthrop, Wofford, and Xavier.

The Owls of KSU are the top-ranked club in the field, coming in at No. 74 in the most recent GolfStat rankings, meanwhile the Eagles are currently No. 180.

This will be the first time the event has taken place at Rivermont after the tournament spent 20 years at Eagle's Landing Country Club. The course will also host the 2021 Georgia Women's Senior Amateur this summer.

The 2020 event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but returns with an impressive field that includes six teams ranked among the top 125 by GolfStat. The last time the event was played in 2019, South Florida took the team title as Natalia Villavicencio earned low medalist honors for the Bulls.

Head Coach Stephanie Jennings will use the same lineup again of sophomore Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit), senior Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio- Anthony Wayne), freshman Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland), freshman Sophia Wygonik (Westland, Mich.-Livonia Franklin), and freshman Paige Zolciak (Perrysburg, Ohio-St. Ursula Academy). Freshman Tatyana Nyambane (Nairobi, Kenya-Nord Anglia International School Dubai) will again be taking part in the event as an individual competitor.
