KALAMAZOO, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team finished first, with a team score of 195.900, at the Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday, March 20. This is Eastern Michigan's fourth MAC championship in program history and its first since 2017.

"I am so unbelievably proud of this team!" said Head Coach Katie Minasola. "This team is so special and has worked incredibly hard for this. They fought until the end and are coming home as MAC Champions. What an amazing feeling this is."

Eastern began the conference meet on beam, tallying 48.625, and was led by none other than junior Caitlin Satler (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg). Satler's score of 9.850 tied for fourth. Senior Jada Rondeau (Savage, Minn.-Central) followed close behind with a 9.825, earning seventh. Classmate Brianna Price (Kings Mountain, N.C.-Homeschool) and sophomore Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) added scores of 9.775 and 9.725, respectively. Mickayla Stuckey (Union City, Ind.-Indiana Connections Academy), a beam specialist for EMU, rounded out the scoring five with a 9.450. The Green and White had a bye for rotation two, before moving to floor.

In the third rotation, Eastern hit a 49.075 on floor. Crossen topped the lineup, scoring 9.875 and tied for eighth, while freshman Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Ill.-Park Center) tied her personal-best of 9.850. Juniors Carly Kosanovich (Moon Twp., Pa.-Moon Area) and Kara Roberts (Pinckney, Mich.-Pinckney) both earned scores of 9.825, which tied a career-high for Kosanovich. Classmate Shannon Gregory (Edison, N.J.-John P. Stevens) chipped in a score of 9.700. EMU tallied a 97.700 after two events, and moved to vault following another bye.

Eastern Michigan totaled another 49.075 on vault in the fifth rotation of the day. A career-high 9.850 from sophomore Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) led the Green and White and tied for first. Parris became Eastern's first vault champion since Chris Deitrick in 1988. Crossen continued to have a good day, earning 9.825 on the event and tied for fourth. The Green and White had three gymnasts hit 9.800 in Rondeau, Roberts, and senior Cali Harden (Saline, Mich.-Saline). After three events, the Eagles were tied with Kent State for first place with a team score of 147.775.

The Green and White knew what they needed heading into the final rotation on bars, and they nailed it. Senior Cortney Bezold (Maineville, Ohio-Bishop Fenwick) led the squad as she has done most of the season, scoring 9.875 and tying for third. Boris tied for fifth with a career-best tying 9.850. Rondeau also added a score of 9.850, while Parris earned 9.800. Crossen ended her all-around day with a 9.750. The Eagles totaled 49.125 and 195.900 overall to claim their fourth MAC Championship in program history.

Crossen earned second in the all-around competition with a 39.225, and Rondeau followed close behind with a 39.125 to tie for third.

Furthermore, both Crossen and Parris were named to the 2021 MAC All-Tournament Team.

The Eagles await the NCAA selection show Monday, March 22 at 5 p.m. to announce teams and individuals who earned the opportunity to compete at NCAA Regionals, April 4.
