McNeill Named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week

The Whitby, Ontario native scored a brace in the Eagles' 3-0 win over Northern Illinois
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University soccer forward Sabrina McNeill (Whitby, Ontario-Henry Street) has been named the Mid-American Conference West Offense Player of the Week, the conference office announced today, March 17.
The Player of the Week honor is the second of the redshirt senior's career, after winning Offensive Player of the Week, Nov. 3, 2019.
Notching her first points of the 2021 season, McNeill led the way for Eastern in its 3-0 victory over Northern Illinois, March 14. McNeill scored the game-winner in the 13th minute, connecting on a pass right outside the six-yard box to put the Eagles up, 1-0. In the 78th minute, McNeill was able to corral the deflection of a blocked NIU shot, and proceeded to make her way down the field to take the goalkeeper one-on-one and score her second of the game to seal the win for EMU, 3-0.
The Eagles host the University of Toledo tomorrow, March 18, at the St. Joe's Sports Dome. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. Due to health and safety concerns, attendance at games continues to be limited to essential personnel only.
