Eagles of the Week Presented by EMUCU

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week.

MALE NOMINEE
Name: Taige Bryant

Week's Achievements (detailed description of week's events):

Graduate student Taige Bryant crushed his previous-best weight throw of 21.87m with a launch of 22.56m to set the school record and take first place at the Grand Valley State University's Holiday Open, Dec. 3. The 22.56m toss topped senior Newlyn Stephenson's 22.28m performance set last year at the Akron Quad Meet, Jan. 15.

Bryant's heave is the early collegiate leader in the Men's Weight Throw. The mark would have been No. 4 on the end of regular season descending order list last year according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Week's Achievements (detailed description of week's events):

Junior thrower Miranda Cadwell was impressive for Eastern Michigan as it opened its 2021 indoor track and field slate among a fierce field of competition at the GVSU Holiday Invite, Dec. 3. Cadwell took first in the weight throwing competition with a mark of 16.65m. That throw was good enough to propel her into sixth all-time in program history for a single throw.

As a team, EMU was able to bring home victory, placing first with a team score of 140.70.
