GRANVILLE, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving program earned four wins and 28 top-five finishes on day two of the Denison Invitational Friday, Dec. 3.
Senior Riley Hofmann (Ada, Mich-Forest Hills Central) started the day off with a second-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley preliminary with a mark of 4:25.58. Freshman Abby Szadorski (Oswego, Ill.-Oswego East) placed fourth with a time of 4:26.35 in the same preliminary event. Hofmann would go on to earn second in the 400-yard individual medley final, finishing in 4:22.50, while Szadorski placed fifth (4:24.79).
Freshman Lucie Fioux (Clermont-Ferrand, France-Godefroy de Bouillon) swept both 200-yard free events, earning a time of 1:49.79 in the preliminary round and a mark of 1:49.66 in the finals.
Sophomore Carlin Hudson (Chattanooga, Tenn.-Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences) finished second in the 200-yard free final with a time of 1:50.10 while freshman Kiersten Russell (Clinton, Mich.-Saline) finished in third in the same event with a mark of 1:50.39.
Sophomore Lainie Bell (Atlanta, Ga.-Druid Hills (Northern Arizona)) placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a mark of 54.93
On the boards, senior Bethany Berger (Batavia, Ohio-Glen Este) swept both the 1-meter preliminary dive and the 1-meter finals. Berger recorded a score of 439.65 in the prelims, and a score of 447.60 in the finals.
