LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team wrapped up the 44th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational Monday, Oct. 18, on Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club's par-72, 6,258-yard Cypress Lakes Course. The team finished the event in 11th-place with a 909 (295-306-308).
Sophomore Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) had a career-best tournament, shooting a 71 on the final day for her first round of par-or-better. The 225 (75-79-71) marked the lowest 54-hole tally of her career, as she placed 29th out of 78 competitors. Freshman Kyleigh Dull (Fremont, Ohio-Lakota) had a solid tournament, matching Watson in a tie for 29th with a 225 (70-75-80).
The teams at the top of the leaderboard were not immune to final round troubles on Monday. Boston College (+3) overtook tournament host FIU despite posting a final round 296, 11 shots higher than they second round. FIU (+5) saw its score grow by 16 shots on the last day of play, posting a 300 to finish two shots behind the Eagles. James Madison (+6), FGCU (+12) and Minnesota (+20) maintained their position in the top five.
FGCU's Haley Yerxa had to hang on to take medalist honors. Her final round score of 73 opened the door for someone to move past her, but a trio of players fell one shot shy of forcing a playoff. Yerxa finished the tournament with a four-under par total of 212.
This marks the conclusion of the team's fall season. The Eagles will resume action in February, taking part in MAC Match Play event, Feb. 7-8, back in the Sunshine State.
