MIDDLETON, Wis. (EMUEagles.com) --
After a short break to start the month, the Eastern Michigan University cross country program is back for another challenging Midwestern meet. The Eagles will head to the Badger State for the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Friday, Oct. 15. All races will be held on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Golf Course in Middleton, Wis.

The men's team will split in two for this meet, with three Eagles running the 8K B race at 12:40 p.m. CT and seven participating in the Men's 8K Championship later on.

After the men's B race, the women's team will compete in the 6K championship race at 1:20 p.m. CT. On the course, the Eagles will battle 19 programs ranked in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) top-30, including the top-three in the country: North Carolina State (No. 1), Brigham Young (No. 2), and New Mexico (No. 3).

Sophomore Esme Davies (Lake District, England-Queen Elizabeth Grammar School), she looks to continue her streak of being the first Eagle to cross the finish line, doing so in the last five races she has competed in. In fact, the last time Davies did not pace the Green and White was at the 2019 NCAA Great Lakes Regional, Nov. 15, which took place on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Golf Course.

Meanwhile, the men's team will also face top-notch competition in their 8K championship which takes place at 2 p.m. CT. The Green and Yellow harriers are set to take on 18 nationally-ranked opponents according to the USTFCCCA as well, with Stanford (No. 3) being the highest-ranked men's team in attendance.

Out of the men's scoring five, the top-three have remained the same in the last two 8K races: freshman Toby Gualter (Tawa, New Zealand-Tawa College), sophomore Josh Hill (Amherst, Ohio-Amherst Steele), and  junior Baldvin Magnusson (Akureyri, Iceland).

Following Friday's meet, the Eagles will return to the Mitten State as they host the EMU Classic, Oct. 22. The 5K is set to begin with the men at 4 p.m. and women at 4:30 p.m. at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich.

The Eastern Michigan University cross country program will host the Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday, Oct. 30, at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Ypsilanti, Mich.
