Woodford County High School senior Samantha Stephens signs with the Eagles

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University lacrosse program landed its second-ever signee, Jan. 21, in Woodford County High School (Ky.) senior Samantha Stephens.

"Samantha is a dynamic, feisty, quick attacker who will be a force both feeding and finishing for us," said Head Coach Alicia Groveston Jackson. "She has a nose for the ball and we couldn't be happier that she chose to continue her lacrosse career at EMU. Samantha will be an excellent and welcome addition to the Eastern academic and athletic community!"

Lacrosse will be the 19th varsity sport at Eastern Michigan, which begins play during the 2022-23 academic year.

EMU will be the seventh Mid-American Conference institution to sponsor the sport at the NCAA Division I level.  Others in the MAC include Akron, Central Michigan, Detroit Mercy, Kent State, Robert Morris, and Youngstown State.
