YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team bested Bowling Green State University, 194.775-142.125, Sunday, Jan. 24, inside the Convocation Center. The Falcons did not send a full lineup to Ypsilanti and had only  three competitors on floor and four on vault and bars.

"We made improvements this week," said head coach Katie Minasola. "We focused on a few specific details, which I felt shined through in some performances. However, we look forward to building on our scores each and every meet."
 
Eastern began the afternoon on vault, where sophomore Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) and junior Kara Roberts (Pinckney, Mich.-Pinckney) led all gymnasts, both scoring 9.750 to tie for first place. The Eagles also saw three scores of 9.600 from senior Cali Harden (Saline, Mich.-Saline), junior Carly Kosanovich (Moon Twp., Pa.-Moon Area), and freshman Anna Grace McCullough (Birmingham, Ala.-Briarwood Christian) all tying for fourth place as EMU earned 48.300 on the event.
 
Holding it down for the Green and White on bars was senior specialist Cortney Bezold (Maineville,Ohio-Bishop Fenwick), scoring a 9.850 to earn the top spot in the event. Parris chipped in a score of 9.800 for second place, while freshman Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-Park Center) finished third with her score of 9.725, a new season-high. Sophomore Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) contributed a score of 9.700, good for fifth place. The Eagles ended the second rotation with a score of 96.825.
 
Junior Shannon Gregory (Edison, N.J.-John P. Stevens) placed first as she led the beam lineup by tying her career-high of 9.850 and claiming her first career event win. Senior Jada Rondeau (Savage, Minn.-Central) scored 9.825 to take second, while both Boris and junior Caitlin Satler (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) added scores of 9.800 to tie for third. Senior Brianna Price (Kings Mountain, N.C.-Homeschool) finished in fifth place with a score of 9.775. Going into the final rotation, Eastern's team score was up to 145.875.
 
Satler paced the Eagles in the floor exercise with a 9.825 to finish first in the event. McCullough earned a 9.800 to earn third place, as teammates Gregory and Roberts both tied for fourth with scores of 9.775. Additionally, Rondeau scored a 9.725 to place sixth while Boris registered a 9.675 for seventh to round out the Green and White. EMU finished the day scoring 194.775, .475 of a point higher than their season-opening score at the Temple Quad. 
 
Eastern Michigan travels to Kent State for its first conference road meet of the season Sunday, Jan. 31, with the action slated to begin at 1 p.m. Fans will be able to watch on ESPN3 or follow along with live results on EMUEagles.com.
