Men's Track and Field/Cross Country Unveils Incoming Class

The total incoming class includes nine student-athletes

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — With the fall right around the corner, Eastern Michigan University Head Men's Cross Country and Track and Field Coach John Goodridge has announced the incoming group of nine student-athletes today, Aug. 4.

"Our incoming class of freshmen and transfers all share an appreciation of the Eastern Michigan University track and field/cross country history and traditions and opportunity to help us win future championships," added Goodridge. "Each of them possess talent and qualities that we feel make them excellent additions to our team and program."

Joining the Green and White for the upcoming season will be: Muaad Abdulaziz (Allen Park, Mich.-Henry Ford Early College), Nate Alwood (Carson City, Mich.-Fulton), Ousman Kamara (Coatesville Pa.-Coatesville) Ethan Kincell (Fairmont, W.Va.-Fairmont Senior), Dante Lander (Dayton, Ohio-West Carollton-Central Michigan), Roland Miles (Coatesville, Pa.-Coatesville-Shippensburg), Richie Sadler (Greenville, S.C.-Greer-Coastal Carolina), Kaleb Simpson (Bexley, Ohio-St. Charles Preparatory), and Linus Vennemann (Osnabrück,  Lower Saxony, Germany-Gymnasium "In der Wüste").

Goodridge: "Muaad is a promising distance runner who has shown exciting development from his junior year."

EMU: Joins the EMU squad in the fall of 2020…High School: A two-year letterwinner and two-time captain at Henry Ford Early College…Posted senior-year stats of 4:27 in the mile, 9:28 in the 3200-meter, and 15:47 in the 5000-meter…Helped the Hawk to a Gabriel Richard All-Area Champions…Earned Wayne County All-Area honors…Personal: Full Name: Muaad Abdulaziz…Son of Nabil Abdulaziz and Amani Abdulrahman…Has two sisters, Olfut and Omaima and one brother, Akram…Major: Computer Science.






Nate AlwoodNate Alwood, Freshman • Carson City, Mich.-Fulton • Sprints

Sterling Roberts: "Nate is a workhorse!  That's a very important quality in a long-sprinter. We've had a long history of success with Michigan sprinters, and we're excited to add Nate to that list."

EMU: Started EMU career in fall of 2020…High School: Prepped at Fulton High School under coaches Dave Shehan and Jeff Biddinger…Earned three letters in cross country and one in track and field…Set two school records in both the 4x2 and 4x4 relays…Two-time state champion in the 4x2 relay…Earned second team All-State in the 400-meter dash…Voted MVP his senior season…Clocked a 49.54 in the 400-meter dash during his final campaign…Earned three letters in football and was a two-time first team punter and second team defensive back…Also ran with the Blazers Track Club under coach Kevin Davis…Personal: Full Name: Nathaniel Martin Alwood…Son of Russ Alwood and Jennifer White…Has two brothers, Patric and Chris and one sister, Erin…Major: Business Management.




Ousman KamaraOusman Kamara, Freshman • Coatesville Pa.-Coatesville • High Jump

Roberts: "Ousman is a one of the best high jumpers out of Pennsylvania, and has exciting potential to make a big impact here at Eastern and in the MAC."

EMU: Starts his EMU career in the fall of 2020…High School: A letterwinner at Coatesville Area Senior High School…Took first place in the Class AAA Boys' High Jump during the 2019 PIAA State Track and Field Championships...Won the state title with a jump of 6 feet, 8 inches...Further distinguished himself by placing second in the high jump during the District I championships...Named first team all-state..Also a member of the basketball team...Personal: Full Name: Ousman Sarh Kamara…Son of Shecky Kamara and Cynthia Wollie…Major: Business management.






Ethan KincellEthan Kincell,  Freshman • Fairmont, W.Va.-Fairmont Senior • Distance

Goodridge: "Ethan is a developing distance runner who showed significant improvement from his junior to senior year."

EMU: Starts his EMU career in the fall of 2020…High School: A four-year letterwinner and one-time captain at Fairmont Senior High School under Head Coach Dayton McVicker…Won the West Virginia Cross Country State Championships twice (2019, 2020)…Notched the 2019 cross country conference and regional championship titles…Placed first in both the 1600-meter run and 3200-meter at the 2019 regional championships…Earned all-state honors in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter…Personal: Full Name: Ethan Ashby Kincell…Son of Jason Kincell…Major: Computer Science.






Dante LanderDante Lander, Junior • Dayton, Ohio-West Carollton-Central Michigan • Hurdles

Roberts: "Dante will bolster our current stable of 400-hurdlers and has the speed to contribute in the sprints as well. Coming from CMU, he's had experience in the MAC, where he was a scorer as a freshman."

Roberts: "Roland is another Pennsylvania native, from the same high school as Ousman! He has developed tremendously from high school in his first two years in college. We look forward to him continuing to improve."

Richie SadlerRichie Sadler, Junior • Greenville, S.C.-Greer-Coastal Carolina • Triple Jump

Roberts: "We've had some excellent triple jumpers come through Eastern, especially in the past several years, and Richie will continue in that line. He's unique from others on that list in that he's also a very talented long-sprinter, so he'll contribute in multiple event groups."

EMU: Joins EMU with two years of eligibility…COASTAL CAROLINA: 2019 Outdoor:  Saw action in nine meets, three events...Earned nine top 10 finishes, including two first place finishes in the triple jump (Coastal Carolina Invite - 14.68 m and Winthrop Twilight - 14.70 m) and one in the Coastal Carolina Invite 4x400 (3:17.48)...Team season-best in the triple jump (15:01m (1.4))...High School: Earned eight letters as a Yellowjacket at Geer High School...Holds the school records in the 4x8, 4x1, and triple jump..Was the state champion in the triple jump during his junior year...Finished second at nationals in 2016...Was selected all-region...Also a member of the football and basketball teams...Personal: Full Name: Richard Lagere Sadler…Son of Richard Sadler and Kimberly Floyd…Has one sister, Rachel…Major: Kinesiology.

Roberts: "Kaleb is a talented and versatile sprinter out of Ohio. He will likely help us out in every sprint event and both relays, which is a useful tool to have when you're trying to win championships!"

EMU: Starts his EMU career in the fall of 2020…High School: A three-year letterwinner and three-year captain for St. Charles Preparatory School under coach John Leskovich…Broke five St. Charles' records in the 60-meter, 100-meter, 200-meter, the 4x1 relay, and the 4x2 relay…Set a personal-best in the 60-meter dash with a 6.92 during his senior season…Qualified for the Division I state meet in the 100 meters by finished second (10.89) at the regional meet…Voted MVP during his final campaign…Notched all-league honors…Personal: Full Name: Kaleb Christian Simpson…Son of Jay and Bobbie Simpson…Has one sister, Kamryn…Major: Business.
