This is the second consecutive year the Eagles nabbed two postseason awards
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team's junior Jada Rondeau (Savage, Minn.-Central) and sophomore Caitlin Satler (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) earned All-Mid-American Conference Second Team honors for the shortened 2020 season, the league office announced Monday, April 13.
This marks the second consecutive year that EMU has nabbed two postseason honors with Cortney Bezold (Maineville, Ohio-Bishop Fenwick) and Emili Dobronics (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) earning first and second team honors, respectively, in 2019.
This is the first year Rondeau has earned a postseason accolade, having closed out the year third in all-around and fourth on bars in the conference. The junior hit personal-bests of 9.850 and 9.875 on bars and beam, respectively, and tallied 15 scores of 9.825-or-higher in nine meets this season. The Savage, Minn. native earned five first-place finishes in all-around, and four on bars. The junior totaled 14 podium finishes of third place-or-better, this season.
Satler reached new heights on beam during her second year of collegiate competition, scoring a 9.825-or-better five times, including a new personal-best of 9.900 against Northern Illinois, Feb. 7. The sophomore specialist was a staple in the EMU beam and floor lineups, collecting eight top-three finishes during the 2020 season. The Orland Park, Ill. native finished the year ranked third in the Mid-American Conference on beam and collects her first postseason award as well.
The MAC is set to announce Academic All-MAC Team honors Wednesday, April 15. Fans can follow all things EMU gymnastics on EMUEagles.com or by following along on Twiitter, @EMUGym.
