Four Eagles Sit in Top-11 Spots at Low Country Invitational

BLUFFTON, S.C. (EMUEagles.com) – Consistency was key for the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team in the opening round of the Low Country Invitational on the par 71, 5,713-yard Crescent Pointe Golf Club course. Four Eagles reside in the top-11 places, while the team is just shot behind co-leaders Wingate and Montevallo.

Head Coach Stephanie Jennings' crew shot a first round score of 14-over 298, shooting their fourth sub-300 round of the year.  Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan is directly on the Eagles' heels with a 299.

Junior Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) highlighted the EMU attack with a one-over 72 in the round. Wingate's Warissara Puangcharoen and Montevallo's Kayla Shelton are one shot ahead at even-par 71.

Senior Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) fired a 72 in a tie for seventh, while senior Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) and sophomore Natai Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School) are tied for 11-place with a 76. Freshman Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit) had first-day tally of 81, to go along with a 78 from senior Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario- Ridge Community-Tampa).

The tournament winds down Tuesday, March 2, with the final round that begins at 8:30 a.m.
