Emili Dobronics hits 9.900 on floor for the fourth time of her career

USAFA, Colo. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team put together a dominant performance at the U.S. Air Force Academy Saturday, Feb. 29. The Green and White snapped a four-meet losing streak by defeating the Falcons, 194.700-192.575.

"We had a lot of fight and grit during this meet." said Head Coach Katie Minasola "We handled adversity with Kara being out of the lineup on bars and floor, but it was great to get the win. We are looking to improve on the details for next week at Michigan State."
 
Eastern Michigan took an early 48.525-47.750 lead and never looked back. Juniors Cortney Bezold (Maineville, Ohio-Bishop Fenwick) and Jada Rondeau (Savage, Minn.-Central) led the Eagles on bars to start the meet, scoring 9.825's and tying for first-place. Freshman Hannah Hartung (Lincoln, Neb.-Lincoln East) followed with a 9.725 to earn fourth, while sophomore Charlotte Reynolds (Leominster, Mass.-Leominster) contributed a score of 9.575 for eighth-place.
 
On vault, it was sophomore Kara Roberts (Pinckney, Mich.-Pinckney) score of 9.725 that led the event, taking first. Classmate Carly Kosanovich (Moon Twp., Penn.- Moon Area) tied her career-high of 9.700 to tie for second-place. Senior Emili Dobronics (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) and junior Cali Harden (Saline, Mich.-Saline) tied for fourth, both scoring 9.675. Hartung rounded out the scoring five, earning 9.650 on the event. EMU led after two, 96.950-95.525.
 
Moving to floor, Dobronics tied her career-high of 9.900 to claim first. This is the second-time in her career she has hit the mark and the first time this season. Rondeau followed the co-captain with a score of 9.875 to tie her personal-best as well, and earn second. Kosanovich continued her career meet, earning a career-high of 9.750, taking sixth-place. Sophomore Caitlin Satler (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) helped out with a 9.725, and freshman Mickayla Stuckey (Union City, Ind.-Indiana Connections Academy) rounded out the top-five for the Eagles, with a score of 9.700. EMU held a commanding lead of 145.900-143.700, heading into the final rotation.
 
Closing out the meet on beam, Rondeau led the squad, tying for first with a score of 9.825. Satler followed with a 9.775, earning third. Dobronics tied for fourth with her score of 9.750. Both Stuckey and junior Brianna Price (Kings Mountain, N.C.-Homeschool) claimed sixth, scoring 9.725's.
