Eagles Unable to Takedown the Spartans in East Lansing

EAST LANSING, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team fell to Michigan State University, 195.625-194.200, Saturday March 7, in a non-conference meet at Jenison Field House. 

EMU (3-7, 1-4 MAC) began the day on bars and trailed after the first rotation, 48.200-48.825. Junior Jada Rondeau (Savage, Minn.-Central) led all Eastern Michigan scorers, hitting 9.825 for second place. Sophomore Kara Roberts (Pinckney, Mich.-Pinckney) earned a score of 9.675, while junior Cali Harden (Saline, Mich.-Saline) chipped in a score of 9.650, earning seventh and eighth, respectively.

On vault, Eastern was led by Roberts and senior Emili Dobronics (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) both earning 9.750s, tying for third place. Harden scored 9.700 for seventh place, while freshman Hannah Hartung (Lincoln, Neb.-Lincoln East) scored 9.675, tying for ninth. The Eagles ended the second rotation behind the Spartans, 96.675-97.600.

The Green and White picked it up on floor with Roberts and Rondeau leading the way. Both gymnasts scored 9.825's to tie for fourth. They were followed by sophomore Caitlin Satler (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg), earning a 9.800 to tie for sixth place. Dobronics scored a 9.750 and Freshman Mickayla Stuckey (Union City, Ind.-Indiana Connections Academy) rounded out the scoring five with a score of 9.675. EMU finished the event with an overall score of 145.550 to MSU's score of 146.575.

Closed the meet on beam, Satler led the squad with a score of 9.875, placing second. Following the sophomore was classmate Shannon Gregory (Edison, N.J.-John P. Stevens), scoring 9.775 and claiming tying for fourth. Stuckey's score of 9.750 was good to tie for sixth, while both Roberts and Rondeau earned 9.625. Eastern Michigan ultimately fell to Michigan State, 195.625-194.200.

In the all-around competition Roberts tallied a score of 38.875, placing third. Rondeau finished the day with a score of 38.750, taking fourth place.

The Eagles will close out their regular season at Kent State University Friday, March 13, at 7 p.m. The Green and White will look to once again end the season on a high note, having defeated KSU in the final meet last season 196.025-193.900.
