Women’s Golf Set for 18th Annual Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team heads west to the Grand Canyon State to participate in the 18th Annual Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational, Feb. 21-23. This year's field will be comprised of 18 teams with four out of five individual scores counting toward the team total each day.
The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Western Michigan, runs from Friday through Sunday on the White Wing Golf Course at Rio Verde Country Club. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
The event features eight Mid-American Conference programs: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ohio, and WMU.
The field also includes Arkansas State, Boise State, Bradley, Illinois State, Kansas City, Little Rock, Missouri State, Seton Hall, Wichita State, and Xavier.
The event was originally known as the East/West Rio Verde Invitational. Last season, the Eagles shot a two-round total of 615 (305-310) to finish tied for 10th-place. Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) finished tied for eighth with a 148 (71-77).
Senior Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) will lead the lineup for the Eagles, followed by Sripatrprasite. In the No. 3 and 4 spots will be senior Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) and sophomore Natai Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School), while senior Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community-University of Tampa) will round out the lineup.
Taking part as an individual will be freshman Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit).
