Dublin Scioto senior Avery Schwab signs NLI
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University lacrosse program inked its first-ever signee, Dec. 1, in Dublin Scioto High School senior Avery Schwab.
"I chose EMU because it is a really unique and great opportunity to be apart of a brand new program and be able to make such a big contribution to that," said Schwab. "I also felt like it had everything I was looking for academically; I especially like the prospect of being in the Honors College. EMU is somewhere I can be more independent, and I think it will prepare me well for my future."
"We are so excited to have Avery join our family as the first ever signee to the EMU women's lacrosse program," remarked Coach Alicia Groveston Jackson. "Avery has an excellent lacrosse IQ, strong work ethic, and toughness that will fit nicely with our style of play. In addition, her academic prowess, leadership qualities and dedication, will make her a valued member of the EMU community. I couldn't be happier that a Midwesterner was the first to sign with us!"
Lacrosse will be the 19th varsity sport at Eastern Michigan, which begins play in the 2022-23 academic year.
EMU will be the seventh Mid-American Conference institution to sponsor the sport at the NCAA Division I level. Others in the MAC include Akron, Central Michigan, Detroit Mercy, Kent State, Robert Morris, and Youngstown State.
