Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success in competition
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week.
Baldvin Magnusson
Eastern Michigan sophomore harrier Baldvin Magnusson made his season debut at the Can-Am International, Saturday, Jan. 25 at Bob Parks Track inside Bowen Field House. The Akureyri, Iceland, native set a meet record with a personal-best time of 4:11.11, shattering the previous mark of 4:12.71 held by former EMU runner Melika Ghali. Magnusson's time also showed an eight-second improvement over his performance at the inaugural Can-Am International, Jan. 26, 2019, where he finished fourth overall.
Brittni Mason
Eastern Michigan senior co-captain Brittni Mason claimed first prize in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.55 seconds at the Can-Am International Saturday, Jan. 25 at Bob Parks Track inside Bowen Field House. She finished just 0.04 seconds shy of matching her own meet record that she set at the inaugural Can-Am International, Jan. 26,2019. This also marks the second consecutive week that Mason has won the 60-meter sprint, after crossing the finish line in 7.56 seconds at the Doug Hansen Open hosted by Saginaw Valley State University, Jan. 17.
