Tennis Hits The Highway to Face Eastern Illinois and Illinois

The team will play two matches Sunday, Jan. 26

DANVILLE/CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team is back on the road for another weekend of on court action, this time squaring off with both Eastern Illinois and the University of Illinois Sunday, Jan. 26.

Eastern (0-1) looks to build off its season-opening performance at Michigan State, Jan. 23. Although the Eagles were unable to claim the match against MSU, numerous players displayed strong early-season efforts to earn multiple game-wins over the Spartans.

Already five matches into its spring campaign, Eastern Illinois (4-1) has proven to be a challenging competitor for any team that faces it. EIU dominated Grambling State, 6-1, in its most recent match, Jan. 19.

The competition will remain high when Eastern meets Illinois. Although it has yet to begin spring competition, the Fighting Illini earned 16 team victories a season ago. A member of the Big Ten Conference, they will play EMU as the back half of a doubleheader with Texas Christian University.
