The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team were topped by the Bobcats of Ohio University in a hard fought battle, 60-58, Saturday, Jan. 18 inside the Convocation Center. Junior Noah Morgan (Mount Vernon, N.Y.-Mount Vernon (Northwest Florida State)) led the Eagles' comeback bid, scoring 18 straight points for the Green and White late in the second half.

Eastern Michigan (10-8; 0-5 MAC) fell short to Ohio (10-8; 2-3 MAC) after a strong second-half showing by the Bobcats. The visitors finished 20-of-53 (37.7 percent) from the floor, narrowly out-shooting the Eagles' 34.4 percent (22-of-64) field-goal percentage.

Morgan conducted the Eagles offense with a career-high 23 points and drained nine successful field-goal attempts. He would also go 4-for-5 from the line, attain five rebounds, and two assists. Redshirt junior Ty Groce (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Lincoln) ended his day with 17 points, shooting 6-of-14 from the field, while setting a season-high from beyond the arc with three triples and finishing a perfect 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. Morgan and Groce each posted their 10th multi-steal game of the season as they snatched two and three, respectively.

Junior Yeikson Montero (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-Redemption Christian Academy (Pensacola State)) continued his defensive prowess, recording at least one steal for the seventh consecutive game. Meanwhile, junior Jalen King (Pasco, Wash.-Kings Academy) tied a career-high in rebounds with 10.

The Green and White started hot on offense, taking a 17-6 lead in the opening 9:42 of the game. The momentum would continue in the Eagles favor. Groce paced all players with 14 points, giving EMU a seven-point lead entering halftime, 28-21.

The second half would not be friendly to the Eagles as the Bobcats started the first five minutes on a 11-5 run. With the Green and White trailing late in the second half, Morgan came up big as he scored 18 straight EMU points as part of a last-gasp comeback bid, but Ohio escaped with the two-point win after Morgan's attempted buzzer-beater curled right.
