Baldvin Magnusson paces Eagles with a 25th-place finish
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team battled through exceedingly humid conditions at the John McNichols Invitational Saturday, Sept. 21 to claim sixth place with a team total of 196 points.
"Coach and athletes learned some positive things today that we can build on," said head coach John Goodridge following the meet.
Amid thick grass and dry footing at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, sophomore Baldvin Magnusson (Hull, England-Hull University) finished the 8K event in 25th place with a time of 25:00.3. Fellow sophomore Eddie Zuercher (Rocky River, Ohio-Rocky River) clocked in at 25:19.5 to earn 40th place.
Two more Eagles finished in the top-50, as junior Owen Day (Ottawa, Ontario-International School of Dusseldorf) placed 46th with a time of 25:23.3, while sophomore Andy Payne (Worthington, Ohio-Thomas Worthington) took 49th with a 25:31.5 mark. Freshman Josh Hill (Amherst, Ohio-Amherst Steele) was the fifth EMU harrier to cross the finish line, as he sealed 51st place at 25:34.8.
Eastern returns to action Saturday, Oct. 5, as both the men's and women's teams will head to Bethlehem, Pa. to compete in the Lehigh Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University.
