YORKTOWN, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Senior Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) fired an opening day total of 149 (73-76) to lead the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team at the Ball State Cardinal Classic Monday, Sept. 16. Stevenson sits in a tie for fifth-place, while the Eagles are tied with Bradley University in third with a 612 (306-306) on the par-72, 6,204 yard Players Club course.
Behind Stevenson, junior Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) and sophomore Abby Livingston (Novi, Mich.-Novi) recorded a two round total of 155 to sit in a tie for 21st. Sophomore Green Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand- The Regent's International School) is tied for 26th with a 156 (77-79), while senior Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community-Tampa) is in 31st-place with a 157 (81-76).
Senior Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) is tied for 12th as an individual after she shot a 78 and a 74 for a two round tally of 152.
Ball State University shot a 599 (305-294) and sits three strokes ahead of IUPUI (602). EMU (612), Bradley (612), and Western Michigan University (614) round out the top-five. IUPUI's Marion DeBove holds down the top on the leaderboard with a five-under par 139 (71-68).
The third and final round of the Cardinal Classic will begin Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 9 a.m.
