RICHMOND, Va. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University rowing team saw 31 of its student-athletes named to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for the Spring 2019 semester, the association announced Thursday, July 25.
Members of the Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll must have participated in a CAA-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade point average of 3.0 during the designated academic term, and been enrolled as a full-time student at their respective universities.
The Eagles named to the honor roll were: then-seniors Sarah Anderson (Cleveland, Ohio-Charles F. Brush), Jennifer Bucci (Toronto, Ontario-Bishop Allen Academy), MacKenzie Geisler (Mount Horeb, Wis.-Mount Horeb), Baylee Kinkade (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central), Cailey Muir (Ann Arbor, Mich.-Saline), and Addison Oblanas (Seattle, Wash.-Seattle Academy), then-juniors Haley Dutton (West Salem, Wis.-West Salem), Karissa Fald (Carvel, Alberta-Memorial Composite), Taylor Heard (Massillon, Ohio-Northwest), Karson Mahaney (Troy, Ohio-Miami East), Ashly Matzek (Ellsworth, Wis.-Ellsworth), Laura Penny (Saline, Mich.-Saline), Alicia Schmidt (South Lyon, Mich.-South Lyon East), Hannah Taylor (Brooklyn, Mich.-Columbia Central), and Breanna Wirth (Southgate, Mich.-Southgate Anderson), then-sophomores Grace Burke (Columa, Mich.-Benton Harbor), Katlyn Dickson (Van Wert, Ohio-Van Wert), Brynne Harder (Fenwick, Mich.-Saranac), Leah Huyser (Jenison, Mich.-Jenison), Eve Melody (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Jerome), and Diana Spokas (Woodstock, Ill.-Woodstock), and then-freshmen Priscilla Brom (Rockford, Mich.-Rockford), Michelle Deering (Pigeon, Mich.-Laker), Anna Eschenburg (Bruce Township, Mich.-Romeo), Brianna Gracey (Dayton, Ohio-Chaminade Julienne), Mary Hemgesberg (Freeland, Mich.-Freeland), Michalyn Hiltz (Otisville, Mich.-LakeVille Memorial), Alyssa Hood (Westland, Mich.-Plymouth Christian Academy), Antinique Kirksey (Canton, Mich.-Plymouth), Kayla Kuhfeldt (St. Clair Shores, Mich.-Lakeview), and Caitlin Rodanhisler (Hopkins, Mich.-Hopkins).
EMU capped off its 2018-19 campaign matching its best finish in program history at the CAA Championships, May 19, placing third and totaling 19 points. At the championship meet, the Green and White earned a runner-up finish in the Second Varsity Eight race, a third-place mark in the First Varsity Eight, and a fourth-place performance in the Varsity Four race. Additionally, the Eagles' Novice Eight boat brought home the program's first-ever event title at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta, May 10-11.
