EMU Completes Day Two of NCAA East Regionals

Ziegenfuss, Underwood, and Richardson ended their successful 2019 campaigns Friday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan men's track and field team saw three more student-athletes complete their 2019 campaigns at the NCAA East Regional Championships hosted by University of North Florida Friday, May 24.
Senior Derek Ziegenfuss (Allentown, Pa.-Parkland) kicked off the day with a top-30 finish in the javelin throw, clearing 62.51m. The senior finished 27th overall and topped throwers from the University of Florida, Clemson University, and Lousiana State University with his efforts Friday.
Senior Tyler Underwood (Clinton, Mich.-Clinton) and sophomore Owen Richardson (Basingstoke, England-The Costello School) ran in the quarterfinal heats of the 400m, finishing in 21st and 23rd place, respectively.
Friday's results end the 2019 season for all three Eagles and conclude the historic careers of Underwood and Ziegenfuss in the Green and White.
Tomorrow's competitions at Hodges Stadium begin at 2:45 p.m., with the lone Eagle, Nick Herbert (Portage, Mich.-Portage Northern), competing at 6:30 p.m in the triple jump.
