KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (EMUEagles.com) -
The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team continued competition at the Tennessee Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee Friday, April 12.

The day saw the Eagles collect 11 top-15 finishes while recording 16 career-best performances.

Leading the way for the Green and White were redshirt senior Allyson Goff (White Lake, Mich.-Walled Lake Northern (Georgia State) and junior Micah Johnston (Toledo, Ohio-Toledo Christian), who each registered a performance that marked their top collegiate effort, the top time by a Mid-American Conference athlete this season, and a top-10 mark in program history

Goff earned an eighth-place finish in the 100m Hurdles, clearing the obstacles in 13.56 seconds. Her performance bested her previous top time by .14 seconds. The White Lake, Mich. native's finish was also .04 seconds faster than any other MAC student-athlete in 2019.

Johnston recorded career bests in both the 200m and 400m, finishing second and third, respectively. Her 400m time of 54.06 bumped her previous top effort by .06 seconds as she continues to hold the ninth-best outdoor effort in school history. The MAC leader in the 400m also recorded a 200m top effort with a time of 23.93 that bested her previous career standard by .15 seconds. Her 200m effort is the second-best performance by a MAC athlete in 2019.

Additionally, recording top-15 finishes were sophomore Keypathwa Gibson (Toledo, Ohio-Roy C.  Start), junior Kolby Ganther (Park City, Kan.-Northeast Magnet), and senior captains Jessica Harris (Slidell, La-Slidell) and Sydney Meyers (Zionsville, Ind.-Zionsville Community). Gibson and Ganther competed in the 200m, earning ninth and 11th with times of 24.46 and 24.49, respectively. Gibson's performance also marked her career-best and the sixth-best effort by a conference athlete this season.

Harris earned 12th place in the 100m competition with a time of 11.67, the best effort seen in the MAC in 2019. Meyers finished eighth, completing the 1500m in 4:28.55, the sixth-best effort in the league during the 2019 outdoor campaign.

Also earning top-15 finishes were freshmen Morgan Iverson (Hoschton, Ga.-Mill Creek), Tiffany Cernej-Garcia (Ann Arbor, Mich.-Pioneer), and Alysse Marie Wade (Mansfield, Ohio-St. Peters), competing in the Heptathlon, 400m Hurdles, and 100m Hurdles, respectively. Iverson completed her first Heptathlon with a score of 3903 points, good to round out the top-15 competitors, while Cernej-Garcia placed 11th in the 400m Hurdles with a career-best time of 1:02.37 and Wade earned a 14th-place finish in the 100m Hurdles, crossing the finish line in 13.83.

EMU continues competing in Knoxville Saturday, April 13, with competition scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Live results will be available here, while the event will be broadcast live on the Southeastern Conference Network+, beginning at 10:55 a.m. For specific updates on the Eagles throughout the day, visit the team's Twitter page @EMUWXC_TF.
