BLUFFTON, S.C. (EMUEagles.com) – A pair of rounds at par-or-better helped senior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) and sophomore Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) move up the leaderboard on the final day of the Colleton River Collegiate, March 5. Breault fired a two-under 70 to finish in a tie for 12th-place on the par 72, 7,196-yard Colleton River Pete Dye Course, while Collins notched a 72 to tie for 15th.
As a team, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team finished in 10th with a two-day tally of 884 (30-289-294). The Eagles finished one shot behind Wisconsin (884) and in front of Mid-American Conference rivals Miami (897) and Bowling Green (908). Michigan State took home the team title with a 852 and make it a double victory with Donnie Trosper claiming medalist honors with a 206 (69-67-70).
Breault posted a 217 (75-72-70) for his 12th career top-20 showing, meanwhile Collins had a 218 (74-72-72) for his third top-20 career finish.
Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) shot a 223 (75-74-74) to go along with a 226 (77-71-78) from Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin). Rounding out the lineup, Tyler Rayman (Ostego, Mich.-Ostego) added a 243 (85-80-78) for 82nd. As an individual, redshirt freshman Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park) managed rounds of 85, 77, and a 79 for a 54-hole tally of 241.
Eastern Michigan now heads to the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate, March 9-10, hosted by the University of Michigan at the Desert Mountain Outlaw Course in Scottsdale, Ariz.
