This is the first Scholar Athlete of the Week award in Breault's career

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) was named the Mid-American Conference's Scholar Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 10, the league office announced Friday, March 15.

Breault is the sixth Eagle across all sports to earn the honor this season, while he is the first men's golfer to do so since Jared Multer did so, March 22, 2017.

Breault notched his sixth career top-10 showing to pace the Eagles with a one-over-par 217 (69-72-76) at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate March 9-10. He was the highest finisher in the tournament from a Mid-American Conference school, one stroke better than Miami's Jack Ebner.

In a star-studded field that featured six top-100 ranked teams, the EMU men's golf team proved up to the task with a fifth-place finish. The Eagles closed with a final round 301 to finish with an 875 (283-291-301) on the par-72, 7,107-yard Outlaw Course at the Desert Mountain Golf Club.

EMU will complete in the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., March 16-17. The 54-hole event, hosted by George Mason University, will take place on the par-72, 6,793-yard El Campeon Golf Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club.
