Dobronics finishes first in all-around

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team fell at Western Michigan University, 194.750-193.950, in Mid-American Conference action inside University Arena, March 10.
The Eagles started the meet on the uneven bars, finishing the rotation with 47.750. Junior Emili Dobronics (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) led EMU, earning 9.825 for a new career-high, and finishing second, followed by seniors Carly Clark (White Lake, Mich.-Walled Lake Northern) and Sydney Audet (Sylvania, Ohio-Sylvania Northview), who posted a 9.775 and 9.625, respectively.
On vault for rotation two, junior Allie Smith (Telford, Pa.-Souderton) hit 9.800, good for second, while Dobronics followed up with 9.775, tying for third. Senior Ciara Gresham (Shiloh, Ill.-Belleville) chipped in 9.725, as the Green and White end the event with 48.625.
Eastern's floor rotation featured a 9.825 from sophomore Jada Rondeau (Norwood Young America, Minn.-Central), tying for second, and Dobronics hit 9.800, to take fourth. Freshman Caitlin Satler (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) earned a 9.775, and Gresham helped out with a 9.700 as Eastern totaled 48.725 as a team.
Finishing on beam, Dobronics won the event with a 9.800, while freshman Shannon Gregory (Edison, N.J.-John P. Stevens) and Rondeau both tied for second with 9.775. Senior Megan Hultgren (Rockford, Ill.-Sacred Heart Classical Center) and sophomore Bri Price (Kings Mountain, N.C.-Homeschool) tied for fifth, posting 9.725s.
Dobronics strong finish on beam also gave the Orland Park, Ill. native the top spot in all-around with a total score of 39.225.
Eastern looks to finish out the season strong at home against Kent State University for Senior Night Friday, March 15, at 6 p.m.
