YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team returns to the Convocation Center for a clash with Western Michigan University. The meet is set for Friday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: EMU came up short in Chicago, Feb. 3, falling to UIC,195.00-193.075. The Eagles had a spark on bars as sophomore Cortney Bezold landed a 9.800. Trying to carry the momentum into vault, junior Allie Smith had a personal-best 9.875, but could not even the score.
The third rotation was the Green and Whites best of the day, tallying 48.200 on floor. Freshman Caitlin Satler and sophomore Jada Rondeau both scored 9.825, leading to a new personal-best for Satler.
Eastern finished on beam and saw Satler claim first with a 9.775, as the team recorded a 48.150.
Junior Emili Dobronics took first in the all-around competition with a score of 38.150, and was followed by Rondeau's 37.650 for second.
IN RECENT HISTORY: Eastern Michigan holds a commanding 11-3 record over Western Michigan since the 2009 season. Head Coach Katie Minnasola also has a 2-0 record against WMU, having already bested the Broncos this season, 194.300-192.000.
In the meeting earlier this season, junior Jada Rondeau stole the show. Rondeau finished first in three of four events, including two career-best performances, on vault (9.800) and on floor (9.875). Rondeau also posted her best all-around performance, finishing first with a 39.000.
Last seasons matchup against Western featured a dominating performance by former Eagle Kendall Valentin. Valentin scored huge in bars and beam, hitting 9.900 for both. Then-sophomore Emili Dobronics took the all-around competition with a 38.975. EMU will need both Rondeau and Dobronics to lead the team at home this Friday.
SOARING SATLER: Freshman Caitlin Satler is showing she is a force to be reckoned with posting career-bests in three consecutive meets. She destroyed her previous best on beam (9.775), marked against Ball State Jan. 24, hitting a huge 9.875 against Bowling Green, Jan 31. Her score tied for first with teammate, Megan Hultgren.
Satler then posted another personal-best at UIC, Feb. 3, this time on floor, finishing third with a 9.825.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO...: Freshman Caitlin Satler won Eastern's first weekly honors of the season when she was named Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week for her performances at Bowling Green and UIC. At Bowling Green, Satler hit a personal-best on beam with a 9.875. She then followed that up with another personal-best on floor at UIC, 9.825. Satler is new to NCAA competition this season but is making herself known.

Last season, EMU dropped a close contest 194.525-194.025, and will look for payback this time around. Catch the action on ESPN3 or follow live results on EMUEagles.com
