Eagles Prepare to Wrap Up Indoor Regular Season

EMU is set to participate in the SVSU Tune Up
UNIVERSTIY CENTER, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team is set to compete for the final time before the MAC Indoor Championship, Feb. 22-23. The team heads back on the road to travel to University Center, Mich. to compete in the SVSU Tune Up Friday, Feb. 15, on the campus of Saginaw Valley State University.
EMU is coming off a split weekend of competition at the Iowa State Classic, Feb. 8, and the Kent State Doug Raymond National Qualifier, Feb. 9. Senior Sydney Meyers (Zionsville, Ind.-Zionsville Community) finished seventh in the 3000m Invitational at the Iowa State Classic by posting a career-best time of 9:19.23, which landed her fifth all-time in the EMU record books. Redshirt junior Emily Smith (Somerset, England-Wells Cathedral School) also saw success at the Iowa State Classic, placing third in the 3000m event with a career-best time of 9:31.37.
Senior captain Jessica Harris (Slidell, La.-Slidell) and sophomore Kadian Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica- Immaculate Conception) led the Eagles in the Kent State Doug Raymond National Qualifier. Harris finished third in the 60m with a time of 7.52, her fastest time this season. Additionally, the Slidell, La. native recorded a top-10 finish in the 200m event, placing sixth with a time of 24.84. For the third time this season, Clarke broke her own program record in the weight throw. Her 18.69m toss tied the fifth-best effort by a Mid-American Conference Athlete this season, and was good for fourth place in the event.
