HOME OPENERS: Eastern has been unstoppable in home openers since the turn of the decade, going a perfect 19-0 since the 2000-01 season in home-opening bouts. Last season, EMU rode a 20-point performance from then-sophomore Courtnie Lewis en route to a six point win over Cleveland State, Nov. 9.
SCORING ALL AROUND: Nine different Eagles recorded at-least one score against Michigan State, Nov. 5, marking the second consecutive season that number has been reached in a season-opener.
BACK TO WORK ON THE BOARDS: After leading EMU in rebounding (173) in 2018-19, junior Autumn Hudson picked up right where she left off to start the 2019-20 campaign. She notched a team-best six boards against Michigan State, Nov. 5, marking the ninth time she has led EMU in single-game rebounds in her career.
EDUCATION DAY: This years home opener is Education Day at the Convocation Center, where young children are able to attend both a men's and women's basketball game instead of spending Friday couped up in the classroom. School included in the festivities are: Hutchinson Leadership Academy, Lincoln-King Academy, Lanigan Elementary, Barton Elementary, YCS High School, David Ellis Academy, Nichols Elementary/Middle, Henderson Academy, Washington Parks-Academy, Pathways to Success, Art & Technology Academy of Pontiac, Dossin Elementary and Middle Schools, Washtenaw County Children Services, YCS Middle, Charles Wright Academy, Bagley School of Jourrnalism and Tech., Childs Elementary, West Village Academy, and Madison-Carver Academy.
READY FOR RAYJON: After being sidelined last season with an ACL injury, redshirt sophomore RayJon Harris had a season-opening game to remember, at Michigan State, Nov. 5. The Euclid, Ohio native tied for a team-best with four field goals, tallying eight points in her effort. She added four rebounds for the Eagles in just 11 minutes on the court.
KEEPIN' UP WITH CORRIONE: A preseason All-MAC selection, redshirt junior Corrione Cardwell was as-good-as-advertised against Michigan State, Nov. 5. The Cleveland native compiled a team-best 13 points, three assists, and also added a pair of steals on the defensive end of the court. Since her arrival in Ypsilanti, Cardwell has scored in double figures on 27 different occasions, and has led the team in scoring seven times.
IMPROVEMENT AT THE LINE: EMU looks to be an improved squad at the free throw line, a trend that will need to continue if it hopes to capture a MAC title. Last season, the Eagles shot just .586 from the charity stripe. Through one game this season, the Green and White are at .647.
TAKING THE ROCK AWAY: After forcing 16.7 turnovers per game a season ago, Eastern looks poised to be pesky on the defensive end of the court yet again in 2019-20. EMU forced 18 turnovers, including seven swipes, against Michigan State, Nov. 5.
UTILIZING DEPTH: Depth is a term Fred Castro has consistently used to describe his 2019-20 squad. Additionally, 8-of-11 players were in the game for 10 minutes or better.

Additionally, Eastern returns 71 percent of its offensive rebounding production from a season ago.
ALL IN THE FAMILE: This year, EMU's coined term, "FamilE," has new meaning, as multiple sets of Eagles have been reunited with former teammates and coaches. Sophomore Ce'Nara Skanes and redshirt junior Areanna Combs, along with assistant Carlos Adamson were all together at Putnam City West in Oklahoma City before arriving in Ypsilanti. Skanes, the newest member of the trio to arrive at EMU comes by way of Florida International University, where she spent her freshman season. Additionally, freshman Constance Chaplin and redshirt sophomore RayJon Harris are back together after spending their prep years at Euclid High School in Euclid, Ohio.
PINEDA'S INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE: Natalia Pineda took part in the FIBA U-19 World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand, July 20-28. A member of Team Columbia, Pineda has spent each of the last two summers representing her home country.
ANOTHER YEAR OF #MACtion: The Green and White's 2019-20 campaign marks the 39th season Eastern Michigan will compete as a member of the Mid-American Conference. Having been a member of the Cleveland, Ohio-based league since the 1981-82 campaign, EMU has compiled a 268-359 record against conference opponents all-time.
STARTING ON THE ROAD: Tuesday's opener, Nov. 5, marked just the second time in the last seven seasons that the Eagles have opened their season away from home. Last time Fred Castro's squad began the season on the road, it cruised to a 69-59 win over Georgia State in Morehead, Ky., Nov. 12, 2016.
In Castro's first three years at the helm of the program, his teams have outscored its opponents, 221-183, in season-opening bouts.
