The Eagles look to complete their fifth Mid-American Conference Triple Crown in program history
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University men's track and field head coach John Goodridge announced the indoor and outdoor track and field schedules for the 2019-20 season today, Nov. 25. Should the Eagles secure their 16th indoor and 25th outdoor Mid-American Conference titles, it will mark the second time in three seasons that EMU would earn the MAC Triple Crown.
The indoor schedule features six regular-season events, highlighted by the Can Am Classic hosted by EMU, Jan. 25, while the outdoor slate features eight regular-season meets, including a pair of in-state competitions. The Eagles will start its indoor campaign at the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Mich., Dec. 6, before returning to Washtenaw County to compete at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., Jan. 11.
EMU is set to host a meet for the second straight season, as the Green and White will stage the Can Am Classic at Bob Parks Track inside Bowen Field House, Jan. 25. After competing at Central Michigan University's Jack Skoog Open in Mount Pleasant, Mich, Jan. 31, Eastern leaves the Mitten for the only time during the indoor season to take part in the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame, Feb. 7-8, in South Bend, Ind. EMU will make a quick transition to the outdoor calendar with the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas, March 21, followed by a trip to Raleigh, N.C. to compete in the Raleigh Relays, March 27-28. The Eagles will continue to rack up miles as they head to Tucson, Ariz. for the Jim Click Shootout, April 4, before taking part at the Tennessee Relays in Knoxville, Tenn., April 10-11.
After a week without competition, The Green and White will compete at the Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich., April 23-25, while sending a separate group to Columbus, Ohio for the Jesse Owens Classic, April 24-25. EMU then heads to the Hoosier State to race in the Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., May 1, before closing out the regular season in Ann Arbor with the Len Paddock Open, May 9.
