Women's Cross Country Set to Host EMU Fall Classic

Home race serves as the Eagles' final tune-up before the Mid-American Conference Championship
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team concludes its regular season schedule Friday, Oct. 25, as it hosts the EMU Fall Classic at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich. The 5K race marks the Green and White's last competition before starting the postseason at the Mid-American Conference Championship in DeKalb, Ill., Saturday, Nov. 2.
The Eagles return to Washtenaw County after finishing 33rd with a team score of 823 points at the 2019 Under Armour Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., Oct. 19. Graduate student Natalie Cizmas (Clinton Twp., Mich.-Chippewa Valley) shined for EMU as she placed 25th at the 6K event with a time of 20:41.5, while junior Madison Distelrath (Fort Wayne, Ind.-Homestead) and redshirt senior Emily Smith (Somerset, England-Wells Cathedral School) clocked in at 22:15.5 and 22:16.5, respectively. Meanwhile, freshman Esme Davies (Lake District, England-Queen Elizabeth Grammar School) clinched 199th with a time of 22:21.9, while sophomore Janay Hall (Fayetteville, N.C.-South View) posted the program's best time in the open race at 22:38.2.
The women's race is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. Admission to Hudson Mills Metropark is $10, which includes the cost of parking.
