Men's Cross Country Back Home for EMU Fall Classic

Eagles host final regular season race before Mid-American Conference Championship
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team wraps up its regular season slate Friday, Oct. 25, as it hosts the EMU Fall Classic at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich. The 5K event marks the Eagles' last race before starting postseason action at the Mid-American Conference Championship in DeKalb, Ill., Nov. 2.
The Eagles are set to welcome several local foes, including No. 17 Michigan, Michigan State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Bowling Green, Toledo, and Oakland. EMU moved up one spot to No. 9 in the latest USTFCCCA Great Lakes regional rankings, released Oct. 21, passing Miami University as the highest-ranked MAC program in the region.
The Green and White return to Washtenaw County after finishing 27th with a team score of 657 points at the 2019 Under Armour Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., Oct. 19. Sophomore Andy Payne (Worthington, Ohio-Thomas Worthington) paced the Eagles on a dry course, finishing just outside the top-100 with a time of 24:52.1. Additionally, junior Owen Day (Ottawa, Ontario-International School of Dusseldorf) clocked in at 25:05.3 for 126th place, while freshman Josh Hill (Amherst, Ohio-Amherst Steele) clinched 130th place with a time of 25:06.1.
From there, sophomores Baldvin Magnusson (Hull, England-Hull University) and Eddie Zuercher (Rocky River, Ohio-Rocky River) weren't far apart as they finished with times of 25:16.7 and 25:17.0, respectively, before senior Austin Wicker (Pinckney, Mich.-Pinckney) and junior Solomon Costa (Gahanna, Ohio-Gahanna Lincoln) recorded times of 25:39.6 and 25:45.4, respectively. Later in the day, sophomore Chris Devaney (New Plymouth, New Zealand-New Plymouth) logged EMU's best time in the open race at 25:58.1.
The men's race is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Admission to Hudson Mills Metropark is $10, which includes the cost of parking.
